Constucted from a solid brass rod with a layer of nickel plated beneath the 23K gold electroplated finish,it is a distinctive writing instrument with significant heft.An intricate scrolled pattern has been engraved into the surfaces of the barrel and cap.The nib combines the two-tone beauty of 18K gold and a silver-coloured palladium-plated chevron.As a finishing touch,each pen's individual serial number and the W.A.Sheaffer Pen Co.Pat.No 896,861 are engraved near the lever.

Each W.A.Sheaffer commemmorative pen comes in a chest syle box crated from cherry.The top of the chest features the 1908 patent drawing of the lever-fill mechanism,etched into a lacquered brass plate
